One thing I’m enjoying opening this month is my Mothy & the Squid 2024 Advent Calendar. It includes 10 gram mini skeins of sock weight yarn for each day, along with (to my pleasant surprise) a stitch marker!
My current plan is to get some natural white sock weight yarn, and use it as warp, and these mini skeins as weft in some basic weaving project (probably a tabby scarf or maybe a simple sampler).
The box was full of small, colorful, woven drawstring bags, each labeled with a day number. There was also a cute “Merry Christmas” card with a picture of a knitted blotched emerald moth on the front.
Day 1
Day 1 was an orange bag containing peachy orange yarn, and a robin redbreast stitch marker.
Day 2
There was a solid fuchsia-purple mini skein for day two, paired with a gift box stitch marker. The stitch marker has a purple bell on it that jingles.
Day 3
On day 3 the stitch marker was particularly cute: a little black cat draped in lights. The yarn looks like deep denim blues and off-white to me, but based on the bag and the stitch marker, maybe it’s dark blue-blacks or indigo.
My understanding is that the mini skeins will make up a rainbow, so I am looking forward to the mix of colors coming up! 🌈
