Snow days and food

6 February 2011

More snow. It seems I’m always talking about snow on this blog. Bizarrely, though the picture below looks a bit dark, it was blinding outside when I took it.

Apparently I cook a lot when I’m snowbound in my home. I made some brownie mini cupcakes.

Most of which I packed up to send to my boyfriend for Valentine’s day. (While I like baking sweets, I tend to burn out on eating them really quickly. Feel free to take advantage of this by getting me to bake things, than taking all the leftovers.)

I made oatmeal dark chocolate chip cookies for him as well.

I noticed I had some pizza crust mix in the pantry that I had planned to try out months ago, so I made pizza with some canned tomatoes we got from my grandparents’ neighbors around Christmas, red bell pepper, spinach, shrimp and “fiesta blend” cheese.

I also made pasta with pretty much the same ingredients (plus Italian seasoning and radiatore) which I had for lunch a couple days.

I came to the realization last night that my road was a little scarier than other people’s roads when I invited Maggie, Marisa and Brandon over for a Doctor Who night, and they informed me of this fact. Alas! I’m really excited because we finished the new season 1, and watched David Tennant’s first Christmas special. I really hope everyone enjoys David Tennant as the 10th Doctor.

Picnic

23 March 2010

It’s always nice to be able to relax with Kes on his day off.  My dad suggested Kes and I have a picnic since it was over 70F today.  I thought it was a great idea, and suggested it to Kes, who pointed out that since the snow was still melting, the ground is all wet.  Whoops.  Instead, we had a picnic in my living room while watching Dr. Who.

Stuck on the Weather

22 March 2010

I feel like I’ve been talking about the weather a lot, but it’s been occupying my thoughts quite a bit.  Here are some pictures from yesterday.  I decided I wanted cake, so I decided to fill up with gas and drive across the street to the grocery store (yes, I know that driving across the street is kind of terrible, but it’s 0.6 miles and pretty dangerous crossing the road in the ice/snow).  I got stuck on my way out of the gas station, but four guys were kind enough to push my car to a place where I could move.

I’ve had Skies of Arcadia from Gamefly since January, but hadn’t played it at all.  Last night, I tried it out for a couple hours.  So far, I’m really enjoying it.  Vyse in Valkyria Chronicles is what sparked my interest in Skies of Arcadia in the first place, and I haven’t been disappointed yet.  There isn’t a whole lot that sets it apart from other JRPGs for me, but it’s a new story (for me), and I’ve been in the mood for a JRPG-style game.
