Long Day

Posted in Informative

This is the first tulip in bloom I’ve seen this year.  It’s finally warm enough for them to come out.  Almost too warm, really.  It was 82F today, which is apparently 16F higher for our area than normal for this time of year according to the radio.

I’m considering buying a piano from a coworker.  It’s a great deal, and I’ve been passively wanting one for years.  From what I’ve seen it looks lovely, so I’m going to try to check it out and play it before making a decision.

Much of my day was spent driving to my parents’ house.  I’m tired now.  More tired than I would have been normally.  I decided I wanted to download an audiobook before I headed out so I would have something to entertain me on the long drive alone.  Unfortunately, several things happened.  It auto-purchased without asking me which card to use.  It of course used my dormant debit account with no money in it.  The bank was completely unhelpful while being deeply insincere and trying to sell me services.  The iTunes phone number just lead to a message telling me to go to the website.  The iTunes website told me it was all my fault, and to suck it up and get over it.  I ended up leaving town an hour later than I had planned so I could ferry money from my main bank to the now overdrafted account.  Humbug.  Oh, and the book turned out to be the 3rd in the series instead of the first one, so I just listened to part of the 7th Harry Potter book instead.

Predator, Plans, and Passover

Posted in Informative

It was 75F today, so Kes and I went down to Dickson for some food, and walked around for a bit.  Because Predators is coming out this year, Kes wanted me to watch Predator (since I’d never seen it before), so I watched that this evening.  It wasn’t too bad.  I can definitely see how a lot of people would love it.  Not really my thing, though.  I don’t mind going to see Predators in theatres with everyone, but it’s not a movie about which I’m super-excited.

Tomorrow I’m headed to my parents’ because my dad got a teaching award!  He’s going to make a presentation Thursday, so I will be present for that and the luncheon.  It will be nice to see family for a little bit.

I got invited to a friend’s Passover Seder.  Hopefully I can go.  I have gotten a lot out of the past two times I attended a Seder with her.  I’m just worried about being a little tired since it will be Saturday evening, and is out of town a bit.  We might also go see Clash of the Titans Easter afternoon, so it sounds like I will have a full weekend.

Normally I would be spending today with Kes.  It is often his day off.  One of his coworkers got married, and got stuck in the airport, though, so Kes is at work and I’m watching Torchwood.  It definitely has a different vibe from Dr. Who, but I find it to be enjoyable.  I tried watching some of the earlier Dr. Who iterations (from before it was brought back with Chris Eccleston), but I wasn’t as drawn into it.  I enjoyed The Three Doctors, for example, but the experience of the show is so different.

I might actually go to sleep before the sun sets today.  I’ve been staying up until it’s dark, but that’s making me really tired.  Hopefully I can get my schedule straightened out so I will function normally.

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell is still coming slowly, even though relatively interesting things are happening.  I doubt it’s possible for me to finish reading that and/or Gateway by the end of the month like I planned, so I may move on to a different book for awhile.  Probably something I have on my Nook.

Happy almost Passover (the sun is still up).
